Sex Is Anti-Aging + 7 Other Reasons You Should Get It On Tonight

To celebrate the month of love, I wanted to share the top reasons you should thank your orgasm. And hopefully, by the end of this article, you'll be inspired to rededicate this month to self-love.
Toe-curling, mind-blowing, earth shattering: Are there any phrases too hyperbolic to describe the joys of an orgasm? I think not. As far as I’m concerned, orgasms are among the most important ways women can care for their physical, emotional, and psychological health — and I’m a huge proponent of reaping these rewards on a regular basis.
Pleasure doesn’t play a big enough part in our daily lives. One big reason we push off pleasure? Stress. Stress is a major cause of decreased libido and added stress puts strain on our adrenals, those thumb-sized glands that sit right above our kidneys and kick in to help our body combat stress. The adrenal glands also secrete the hormones necessary to keep your libido intact.
When overworked from being in a constant state of stress and alert, the last thing your body wants to do is have sex or procreate — which means you won’t get to experience the benefits of orgasm. Your body goes into survival mode and is just worried about sustaining itself.
If you’re regular MO is to stress about everything and put off pleasure, then you’ll want to pay attention. I find that investing in your overall pleasure will do wonders for your well-being. Here are my favorite reasons, taken from my book, WomanCode, why I think regular sex can be your prescription for better health:

1. It regulates periods.

Some research suggests that women who have intercourse at least once a week are more likely to have normal menstrual cycles than women who are celibate or who have infrequent sex.

2. It helps with detoxification.

Sex provides an overall lymphatic massage, helping your body’s natural detoxification process.
The lymphatic system is your body's complex network of tissues and organs dedicated to getting rid of waste and toxins and delivering white-blood-cell-rich lymph to various parts of the body to fight infection. Unlike blood, lymph doesn't have a pump to move where it needs to go and it relies on your body's muscle and joint contractions. Physical activity (like sex!) helps move stagnant lymph into circulation.

3. It reduces stress.

Orgasms, and sex in general, also induce deep relaxation by boosting endorphin levels and flushing cortisol out of the body.

4. It could boost healthy hormones.

Orgasms spike levels of DHEA, a hormone that some suggest improves brain function, helps maintain and repair tissue, and promotes healthy skin.

5. It's anti-aging.

Skip the expensive creams and procedures: sex could be your real ticket to a youthful glow! In fact, one study found that making love three times a week in a stress-free relationship was associated with looking a full decade younger.

6. It's immune-strengthening.

Some research has shown that regular sex can boost infection-fighting cells up to 20 percent, which help you fight off those stubborn colds and flu.

7. It helps with pain relief.

Research suggests that sexual activity can help cure migraines and treat other types of pain.

8. It enhances passion.

And of course, orgasms increase levels of the hormone oxytocin, which is linked to passion, intuition, and social skills — the hormone of bonding and success!
If you’re struggling to get in the mood, or feel like your orgasmic response is diminished, it's important to consider what you can do to get your sexy back. Some root causes to look at include thyroid imbalance, micronutrient deficiency, birth control pills, and problematic periods.
So this month of love, instead of focusing all of your energy on your partner, put a good amount of your focus on yourself, your response, your desire, and the quality of your orgasm, and see how you can expand your capacity for pleasure.

31 - 40 of 50 Life Secrets and Tips

  1. 31. Learn to control your mind.

What kind of skilled human are you if you cannot even control your own thoughts? While the human mind is described as being a stream of consciousness, that does not mean you can’t decide where your stream flows. Techniques like meditation and the 3 ways to flush out negative thoughts will aid you immensely in learning to control your mind.

  3. 32. Learn to control your emotions.

The only person that can make you unhappy is you! You are the one that decides to be affected by the words and actions of others. Realize this so that the next time you experience a negative emotion, you can find the strength within yourself to overcome it.
  4. 33. Take a class in speed reading.

Books are full of information that can enhance your knowledge-base, vocabulary and yourself as a person. Speed reading is an easy way to get at this info faster so that you can have more time for other endeavors.
  5. 34. Relax!

This one is for you workaholics out there (myself included). Yes, work is very important and productive but you need to take some time to chill out everyday or you are going to burn out faster than a candle with no oxygen. Additionally, you need to reward yourself for a job well done. What’s the use of doing all of that work if you can’t have a little fun from time to time anyways?
  6. 35. Work on making good first impressions.

Practice a strong, firm handshake and the small talk that generally goes along with meeting someone for the first time. People won’t know what to think of you if you have nothing more to say beyond “My name is _______, nice to meet you.” Also make sure you remember names, as mentioned previously. Who knows, you may be going into business with or marrying this person you’re meeting for the first time if you make a good impression. Be sure and make an excellent one.
  7. 36. Learn to use your eyes to their full potential:

    • Make constant eye contact when in conversation. Looking away (especially down) is a sign of inferiority and uncertainty. Instead, look at your conversation partner dead in the eyes and keep them locked on
    • Master the piercing stare. You know when someone looks at you and it feels like they can see into your soul? Well that’s not a hereditary characteristic, it just takes practice. Work on sharpening your gaze in the mirror. You’ll know you have it when it’s intimidating to continue looking at yourself
    • Master the one-eyebrow raise. This one isn’t necessary by any means, but hey, why not? Pick a brow to learn with and go look in a mirror. Raise both of your eyebrows but use your hand to hold down the brow that you want to stay down. This will probably feel very stupid at first but if you keep trying, you will eventually pin down the muscle you need to flex to get that one brow up
  8. 37. Be mysterious.

Don’t let off everything about you and definitely leave out some major details. There is something both alluring and mesmerizing about someone who no one knows fully about. I’m not saying to confide in no one or to alienate yourself. Just think James Bond.
  9. 38. Come up with a life mantra.

You know, like “Carpe Diem” or “Live life to the fullest,” but not as cliché. Make it something that really hits home with you so that you will actually stick to it. Make sure it’ not so specific that it  rarely applies but also not so general that it’s not personal.
  10. 39. Get good at something.

Call it a hobby or a passion, whatever it is, just get damn good at it. Your occupation does not count! Make it something that you can practice often enough to excel at. Examples: Magic tricks, surfing, ping-pong, creating short films, and unicycling. It can be anything but I would recommend choosing something that: 1) You are passionate about 2) You can bust out at any moment to display your skills for any discerning crowd. My mind goes immediately to aerobatics and break dancing, but that’s just me.
  11. 40. Work out those abs.

Above any other muscle group in the entire body, the abs are the most important. They constitute your core, the center point of your body. Your ability to balance comes almost completely from the strength of your abdominal muscles and balance is vital to performance in any physical activity. Summary: they’re very important. Rohn: 4 Keys to Unlock the Power of Your Mind

When your brain is working at peak performance, it allows you to be your best because it controls the rest.
                                          Source:http://chuckbauer.com/
Take care to feed and stimulate your brain and you will expand your mind. The two are inextricably connected. We need to see the human brain and mind with wonder, awe and inspiration.
The brain is the equivalent of a human supercomputer. It is more complicated than any computer mankind has ever made, and maximizing its ability is essential to becoming the success you want to be—because it controls who you are. It is the command center involved in and controlling absolutely everything you do, determining how you think, feel and act.
Simply put: When your brain is working at peak performance, it allows you to be your best because it controls the rest.
There are some basic influences on the brain that shape how it functions and how far it develops, including genes, self-talk, life experiences, stress and study. Although these things influence the brain, they do not determine how far you can go or what you can learn. In other words, you have the incredible opportunity to go as far as you desire.
So with such a tremendous tool at our disposal, what keeps so many people from experiencing the possibilities that it can bring? There are some simple barriers that have the potential to wreak havoc on your learning if you allow them to, but you can overcome them. The key to breaking through these barriers is to do the opposite…

1. Change your beliefs.

Many people do not believe that they can learn, master knowledge or become "smart." These are deeply held beliefs for many, and ultimately, if we do not believe it, we will not achieve it.
So change your beliefs. It is up to you to do the work of changing your beliefs. And when you do, you will be opening up new worlds—literally! Feed your mind with information that will change your belief. The truth is that you have an amazing mind with a capacity for learning that is beyond your comprehension. You must believe this. And when you do, you will be unlocking the potential of your mind.

2. Get the right knowledge.

What keeps some people from learning is that they choose not to access or do not have access to knowledge. Knowledge comes from experiences, books, people and other "knowledge dispensers." We must tap into that knowledge.
So get the right knowledge. Words if they are not true are meaningless. I hear children say, "I read it in a book." But is it true? Just because someone says it or writes it, doesn't mean it is true. As a learner, you want to get the right knowledge, not just information or opinions. It is your job to seek out information and knowledge and then test it and run it through your mind to see if it is true, and if it can be rightfully applied to your life in order to make it better and help you succeed. You need to weigh and measure what you learn in order to gain the right knowledge. And when you do, you will be unlocking the potential of your mind.

3. Become passionate about learning.

Some people simply do not have the desire to learn. They may be lazy, or they may not see the positive impact that learning would have on them. They have no passion inside that drives them to learn.
So become passionate about learning. This will take some work, but the only way to do it is to begin learning about things that have an immediate impact in your life. When you learn about a new financial concept that helps you earn money or get out of debt, that will get you fired up. When you learn about how to interact with your family in a healthy way and your relationships get better, that will inspire you. Become passionate about learning. And when you do, you will be unlocking the potential of your mind.

4. Discipline yourself through the hard work of study.

Gaining knowledge is hard work and takes a lifetime to master. It is an ongoing discipline that is never complete.
So discipline yourself through the hard work of study. Learning will take work. Until someone comes up with modules that can plug into your mind and give you instant access to knowledge, you are on your own, and that takes work. The process of learning is a long one. Yes, we can speed it up, but it is still a process of reading, listening, reviewing, repetition, applying the knowledge, experiencing the outcomes, readjusting, etc. Simply put, that takes time. Slowly but surely, when you discipline yourself, you gain knowledge and learn. And when you do, you will be unlocking the potential of your mind.
Learning is possible, no matter what your age. You are never too young or too old. Your mind was created to learn and has a huge capacity to do so. This week, make a commitment to unlock the potential of your mind!
