What is mentoring? Mentoring is the process of having a particular person, or group of people, relegated to teach, motivate and guide you toward a certain goal.
The internet marketing world lends itself perfectly to having a mentor. Just about every successful internet marketer I know or have heard about started their road to success by having a mentor. With all of the loads of information being thrown at you while trying to become a successful online marketer, it is very hard to sort through it all and figure out what is relevant and what is just fluff.

Even after finding out which information is relevant to your cause it can be frustrating trying to figure out where to begin. A mentor can be the perfect person to help you comb through all of that information and find what is really important while at the same time helping you understand the best starting point to help you achieve your goals. This way you are getting tips from someone who has been through it all, knows the ins and outs of the industry and has overcome all of the obstacles to become successful. It is like getting advice on your golf swing from Tiger Woods.
Mentors are especially plentiful in the internet marketing niche due to the high demand for people that are "in the know" on this subject and can teach others how to be successful online.
It is extremely difficult to succeed as an internet marketer without someone to show you the ropes and point you in the right direction. Despite all the online affiliate marketing advertisements that claim you can start making thousands of dollars a day immediately with hardly any work at all, it IS very hard to be successful at affiliate marketing. These advertisements are designed to get you into a state of mind where you start to believe these exaggerated claims of instant success because they trick your mind by making it look easy and showing you all of the great things you will have like cars and mansions and beautiful women.
You need to know how to look past all of that and at what they are really selling. A mentor has already learned all of the tricks of the trade and endured all of the bumps along the way that you will never have to endure if you have a mentor. This way, you will not make the same mistakes that they did at first or that they may have avoided by having a mentor themselves.
